Greenhills Adventure Park was established in 1982 by two South Australian Families. The Park was officially opened in March 1983 by the Minister for Tourism, at the time, Mr Gavin Keneally. On that day Mr Keneally planted a Gum Tree that now provides shade for the thousands of visitors we get each year.

The site where Greenhills Adventure Park stands today was once a farm which included a farmhouse, dairy, piggery, machinery sheds and 30 acres (12.5 Hectares) fenced into 25 paddocks. We have kept only the farmhouse which has been converted into our Restaurant and Kitchen. The only other commodity retained is space which we still utilise today.

Located just 5 kilometres from the Victor Harbor town centre and bounded by the beautiful Hindmarsh River. The two river plains produced, and the steep bank between them, forms the basis for many of our attractions.

Stage 1

Over 600 Native shrubs and trees planted.

Mini Golf was established south of the Tea House.

Par 3 Golf Course. A nine hole course strategically located to give a challenging course for all ages.

B.M.X. Bicycle - Motor - Cross a fast growing sport in South Australia. A special hard wearing, sturdy bicycle is used, along with a crash helmet which we provide, for use on our clay B.M.X. track. The B.M.X. Bikes have since been replacd with our unique Moon Bikes.

Waterslides. Twin water slides were installed on a down slope to avoid the visual eyesore of the support structures of a slide constructed on level ground.

Water Playground. A free-form pool was installed at the base of the larger water slides with a pre school slide and water play area fenced from the main pool. This provides a safe area for younger children to enjoy with under cover seating for the parents to relax whilst still being able to supervise their children.

Playground. Immediately adjoining the water playground are many amusements such as swings, small slides, mini flying fox, sand pit and rocking worms on springs.

BBQ/Picnic Areas. The park offers two areas for picnics, set in lush surroundings amongst river red gums. Free gas BBQ's are also provided.

Kiosk. The kiosk forms the hub of the park which also houses the equipment for most of the activities as well as serving a wide range of ice-creams, hot food and drinks.

Stage one cost $500,000 to implement, with a further $50,000 being spent annually to maintain the attractions.

Stage 2

Canoes. 20 Canadian style canoes are provided along with paddles and life jackets. The gentle meandering river takes you past some truly beautiful scenery all the way to the ocean. The round trip takes one to two hours.

Dry Slide A huge 50 Metre long dry slide offers excitement all year round.

Half Court Tennis. A unique competitive sport offering fun for the whole family, there are four courts available.

Maze. The amazing maze is designed to send you around the bend.

Tea House. The old farm house was transformed into what is now the licensed tea house, offering a versatile menu and complimented by superb views of the Park.

Patio. A large under cover patio area has been provided with built in BBQ's.

Stage 3

Electric Cars (Mini Cars), which have all the latest energy conservation technology built in, allowing the cars to run all day without additional charging.

Go-karts. Petrol powered go-karts for children 10 years and over on a 300 Metre bitumen track. A great way for children to learn to drive in a safe and controlled environment.

Trees. Greenhills has joined "Trees for Life" who provide 500 to 1000 native trees each year which we have been planting around the park - this is part of our on going commitment to the park and the environment.

Patio. Additional under cover areas have been provided with built in gas BBQ's for the use of the public and for social clubs.

Stage 4

With the introduction of our Pay One Price Structure in December 1988 we have been able to add many more attractions without the need for individual charges and ticket sellers with the Staff now able to concentrate on supervising the patrons rather than collecting money. Families have related favourably to the pay one price because, being a fixed price for the whole day, is attractive to families. Fun, food and adventure for the whole family for the whole day that doesn't cost a fortune!

Lake. With 20 paddle boats and 20 Aqua bikes our new Lake is popular with all ages, holding 7 Million Litres ( 1.5 Million Gallons ) of water pumped from the Hindmarsh River. Ducks have already made the lake their home and we have introduced silver perch, as part of our lake management program.

Trees. "Trees for Life" have continued to support us with a further 1,000 trees being planted. We are also starting to reap the benefits of earlier tree planting programs with a noticeable increase in bird life. We have now extended our tree planting program to the Council reserve across the river.

Tractor Train Rides. We encourage families to take this ride on their first visit to the park. You will ride in one of the two carriage's pulled by the park tractor.

Other activities introduced include Volley Ball Court and Basket Ball to name a couple.

Greenhills Adventure Park provides fun food & adventure for the whole family, for the whole day that doesn't cost a fortune, value for money for the family.

Stage 5

While in Europe two of the Directors saw a Giant Air Bag that people jump on like a giant trampoline. After returning to Australia we enlisted the help of an Australian manufacturer to assist us in making a similar activity for our park which we opened to the public in November 1995.

With indoor rock climbing one of the fastest growing sports in Australia, we have now installed a 12.5 M high climbing wall that suits all ages.
